MICHAEL GIORDANO Awarded 2004 Laura Smither Scholarship

The Scholarship Committee of the Laura Recovery Center – for missing children - proudly announces that Michael Giordano is this year's recipient of the Laura Smither Scholarship. This annual $3,000 scholarship honors the memory of Laura Kate Smither.

Michael is a graduate of Friendswood High School and has been accepted into the honors program at the University of Houston where he will begin college in the fall. He excelled in math and science courses during his High School career and developed his interest in engineering by participating in the Technology Student Association, where he enjoyed building and designing. Michael is interested in pursuing a career in mechanical engineering.

Michael is a public spirited young man, contributing his time and talent for children at the House of Tiny Treasures and assembling child identification kits for the Laura Recovery Center. Michael recharges his spirits by catching a wave on Galveston beach, where he enjoys surfing.

The Laura Smither Scholarship committee wishes Michael every success in his college years and beyond.
